Thermo Fisher Scientific Announces New Liquid Automated Processing Platform

Milford, Massachusetts, United States (September 6, 2010) – Thermo Fisher Scientific, a global leader in service science, has announced a new automatic liquid processor: Thermo Scientific Versette. For interchangeable, RF-marked tips, the VersetteTM offers outstanding versatility in pipetting performance for a wide range of applications requiring automated pipetting from single channel to 384 channels. The Versette pipetting platform can be configured with disposable tips and a fixed pipette tip. The pipetting volume ranges from 0.1μl to 1250μl. For further optimization, single, 8-, and 12-channel pipette tips can be used. A secure sealed Thermo Scientific ClipTips tip. The unique snap-in design of this tip requires minimal mechanical force during insertion and ejection, thereby reducing instrument and dispense head wear and extending life. The 96- and 384-channel pipette tips use the Thermo Scientific DARTs tip and employ surface sealing technology to ensure precise pipetting of all channels.

Versette offers two console configurations for increased scalability. Easy-to-replace two- and six-position consoles provide great flexibility for the independent use and automated integration of the instrument. Thanks to its compact size and the space-saving, two-tier design of the six-position console, the Versette can be placed on any work surface and enclosed work space. Moreover, all consoles can be equipped with safety baffles, which provide closed spaces for experimental materials and reduce pollution without the need for additional space separation facilities.

Whether it's a simple or complex pipetting program, it can be programmed using the built-in software via an intuitive, random LCD touch screen, or through the use of a dedicated Thermo Scientific ControlMate software. Thermo Scientific Versette's automated liquid handling platform, with advanced instrument handling, experimental accuracy, and full functionality, is ideal for transitioning from hand-held pipetting to automated pipetting, or for the creation of integrated automated pipetting systems.
