3 Improve the surface quality of the spindle. For example, the surface of the main shaft in a region with higher stress is processed more smoothly. Alternatively, if some of the shaft segments are working in corrosive media, proper surface protection is to be specified for the shaft segments.
4 As much as possible to reduce or eliminate the size of the initial crack that may occur on the surface of the main shaft, it has a more significant effect on improving the material performance for prolonging its fatigue life. Therefore, for important shaft sections, strict inspection methods and requirements should be specified on the design drawings.
5 Cooling and reducing load, adopting cooling design for the journal of the friction pair, can also significantly improve the fatigue life. Because the main shaft is a rotating part, after running for a certain number of weeks under low stress, it is gradually increased to the design stress level.
