[Crystal structure] orthorhombic system; a 0 = 1.824 to 1.839 nm, b 0 = 0.884 to 0.905 nm, c 0 = 0.519 to 0.523 nm; Z = 16. The crystal structure is a special overview of the pyroxene family. There are two homomorphic multi-image variants of perilla pyroxene: high temperature monoclinic perilla pyroxene (C 2 /c type structure) and low temperature monoclinic perilla pyroxene (P2 1 /c type structure).
[Form] The crystal is often columnar. It is more developed with parallel double-sided {100}, {010} and oblique square {210}. The dissolution of the platelet structure is extremely common (Figure G-27).

[Physical properties] gray-green, taupe; streaks are colorless to light green, light gray; glass luster. The cleavage {210} is complete with an angle of 87°. The hardness is 5-6, and the relative density is 3.3~3.87.
[genesis and occurrence] In the magmatic rocks, perilla pyroxene is mainly produced in basic ultrabasic rocks; in metamorphic rocks, peridotite is mainly produced in amphibolites , granulites, gneiss , In granulite.
