UAW wants to expand its influence in U.S. car makers in U.S. factories

Glober Automotive News Bob King, chairman of the UAW, recently stated that the future of UAW will depend on workers from Asian carmakers in American factories.

Bob King said that Toyota, Nissan and Honda are "not afraid of UAW". If it is not possible for Asian and European car manufacturers to get American workers up, UAW will not be able to obtain the necessary salary for American auto workers.

At present, the number of UAW members representing the three largest car manufacturers in Detroit has dropped to 400,000. At the same time, the Association has 600,000 retired workers.

Bob King said that overseas car companies occupy a large proportion of the U.S. automotive market and develop well, and UAW should work with them to help them develop. Asian car sales account for 50% of the US car market.

In 2009, UAW made great concessions on salary and benefits after negotiating with Detroit car companies, making the reorganization of GM and Chrysler successful.
