It is reported that Beijing Automotive's own new energy company, the full name of "Beijing Automotive New Energy Automobile Co., Ltd." has been quietly registered in the Industry and Commerce Bureau recently. The wholly-owned subsidiary of BAIC will be formally established by the end of October and early November of this year. At the same time, it will also establish a joint venture between Beiqi and a domestic company to be responsible for battery and motor production.
According to Lin Yi, deputy chief engineer of Beijing Automotive Industry Holding and vice president of Beijing Automotive Research Institute, this company will be responsible for the research, development, production and sales of BAIC new energy vehicles and key components; the base has been determined to be based in Daxing. Development zones, factories are under construction, and the development direction is mainly pure electric vehicles. Lin Yi himself is the leader of the preparatory group for Beiqi New Energy Vehicle that is responsible for the preparation of business. [Sohu Automobile]: First of all, please tell us about the current research direction of BAIC?
[Lin Yi]: We have a new plan for BAIC. There are three lines for independent innovation: the left side is the passenger car platform; the right side is the commercial vehicle platform; and the middle part is a new energy vehicle platform.
This is the case for new energy in the middle. We have established a wholly-owned company to carry out R&D, production, and sales of Beijing New Energy Vehicles. We also provide technical support for passenger car platforms and commercial vehicle platforms. We also have plans for the entire Group's new energy vehicles. Functions.

[Lin Yi]: Beiqi Research Institute was established in 2007. We are called the Beijing Automotive Research Institute. We are mainly engaged in research and development of the Beijing brand passenger vehicle. There are currently 450 people. The company mainly develops two series of vehicles: one is the SUV series and the other is the sedan series. The development strategy of BAIC is “Off-road vehicles oriented, commercial vehicles first, passenger vehicles first, and new energy vehicles as breakthroughs. ". Two kinds of off-road vehicles are under development. It is expected that there will be a car off-line in the middle of next year, and another one will go offline at the end of next year. [Lin Yi]: Three series of developments are currently under way, which are equivalent to AO level, A level, and B level. Our model car was also introduced at the Beijing Auto Show. [Lin Yi]: In retrospect, aren't we planning to set up a new energy company? There are three main core businesses.
