Russian energy efficiency plan brings LED lighting unlimited business opportunities

The energy efficiency plan advocated by the Russian government has led to LED business opportunities. In 2013, LEDs saw a significant increase in the Russian lighting market. The plan aims to increase the energy efficiency of lighting products by 2020, while reducing the energy consumption per unit of gross domestic product (GDP) by 40%. Russia's 2020 LED lighting revenue will reach 3.7 billion US dollars of LED lighting and light bulbs, the proportion of the Russian lighting market continues to grow. At present, the revenue of LED lighting products accounts for 37% of the total revenue of the general lighting market, which is 714 million US dollars. BorovKov said that the proportion of LED lighting products is expected to grow to 83% in 2020, with revenues of about $3.7 billion. At present, commercial lighting is the largest proportion in the Russian lighting market, followed by office lighting and industrial lighting. These areas are well funded and have certain demand for lighting quality and energy efficiency, so they account for more than other fields. Bigger. However, in addition to halogen replacement lighting, overall replacement lighting is relatively low, because its price is high, the government has considered when purchasing outdoor lighting equipment. The government procurement case promotes the growth of LED lighting. Even so, the lighting market still has growth momentum. The Russian Railway Corporation (RZD) adopts a comprehensive plan to replace all domestic railway station lighting with LEDs. Borovkov said that the Russian railway is one of the largest state-owned buyers in Russia with strong capital. It is planned to be refurbished from the railway station and railroad tracks since the implementation in 2009, and LED lighting is also installed in the cabin. However, due to the wide range of plans, it is still ongoing. Although the Russian government introduced an energy efficiency improvement policy, it did not provide any relevant subsidies to the lighting manufacturers. Borovkov went on to say that the Lighting Association is now fighting for it and hopes that the government will at least subsidize local LED solutions. The Ministry of Economic Affairs issued a decree in 2008 to support local LED manufacturers through tendering for government and municipal lighting procurement cases; in the procurement case, LED lighting components accounted for 5% of the total. Any local manufacturer who wins the standard will receive a 15% purchase price subsidy. Preferential treatment of overseas manufacturers in the Russian lighting market As the LED lighting market continues to grow, and the Russian government advocates energy efficiency plans, the desire of overseas manufacturers to enter the Russian lighting market has also increased. Borovkov said that the Russian authorities are very interested in the introduction of foreign capital and will provide relevant discounts for overseas manufacturers entering the Free Economic Zone (FreeEconomic Zones). According to Borovkov, manufacturers need to have five key factors to successfully enter the Russian market. First, establish a local legal entity (legalentity), with the qualification to participate in the national and municipal standards. Second, by building a production plant in Russia and producing MadeinRussia products, a 15% price subsidy can be obtained in national and municipal standards. However, as mentioned above, the finished lighting fixtures are currently not included in the scope of subsidies. Third, we have a vast distribution network. Fourth, the company's naming must conform to the local acceptance of Russia, so that local consumers can easily identify and pronounce, and it is easier to remember and accept. Fifth, apply for the legal entity of the Special Economic Zone (Special Economic Zone). With the support and promotion of the Russian government, the LED lighting market is expected to grow to 3.7 billion US dollars by 2020; its huge market size is also the reason why manufacturers are targeting Russia to focus on developing markets. As far as emerging markets are concerned, the development of the Russian lighting market deserves close attention.
