Yesterday afternoon, Dongfeng Company’s core company, Wuhan Dongfeng Hongtai Co., Ltd. officially received approval from the National Development and Reform Commission and became the first batch of pilot enterprises in Hubei to be the first scrapped automobile parts remanufacturing industry in China.
At present, most of the scrapped cars are simple recovery of “gas welding and increase of hammerâ€, and after scraping, scrap iron is thrown into the furnace. Wuhan currently has two qualified scrap car recycling and dismantling companies, but none of them are capable of remanufacturing spare parts with residual values. More than 90% of steel and non-ferrous material components on automobiles can be recovered and used. The burning or disposal of components and parts is both a waste of resources and environmental pollution.
According to Wang Zhenkun, general manager of Dongfeng Hongtai Company, scrapped automobiles are recycled and dismantled by qualified companies, and they can be made into qualified parts and components for automobile after-sales service through specific processing. A Fukang vehicle that sells for 60,000 yuan will be calculated to have a residual value of only 300 yuan after being forcibly scrapped. However, if its engine or transmission has a residual value, after passing the test, it can enter the remanufacturing process. Its molded product value can be equivalent to 30% to 50% of its brand-new. In theory, its maximum value is 30,000 yuan.
Next year will scrap green 10,000 units
Wang Zhenkun said that the initial economic benefits of the automobile remanufacturing industry are very small, mainly due to social benefits, and it is a kind of green manufacturing that protects the environment. In developed countries, this process is already a mature industry. Compared with new products, remanufactured products are almost half the price, and they can get the same quality assurance as new products. Many foreign consumers will actively choose to remanufacture products.
At present, Dongfeng Hongtai has mastered the entire process flow of automobile dismantling and remanufacturing through its existing workshop. The next step will be to build a standardized factory and formally carry out the automotive recycling and remanufacturing business. According to reports, by 2009, the company will reach 10,000 scrapped cars, 30,000 pieces (sets) of spare parts, and 40,000 tons of material recycling capacity.
According to reports, Wuhan currently has between 800,000 and 1 million vehicles. Even with the compulsory scrapping ratio of 3%, about 27,000 vehicles are scrapped each year. In the next five years, the peak of scrapped Wuhan vehicles after the rise of the private car era will come.
