Lightning destroyed transformers caused lifts to lose power Ezhou miners trapped underground

On the 19th, thunder and lightning damaged the transformers and lines of Tingzu Town in the Echeng District of Ezhou City, causing all power outages in the town, and 237 miners were trapped underground. The local government and the power supply department urgently rescued the miners to safely withdraw the ground all night.

According to the person in charge of the Safety Supervision Bureau of the District of Hubei Province, at 5:5 pm the day before yesterday, the thunder and lightning destroyed the transformer of the Tingzu substation, and several lines were broken. Because the lifts were shut down, 237 miners at 11 mines, including the Kameyama Iron Mine, were trapped underground. At the same time, the mine drainage system stopped working due to power outages.

After the blackout, the Tingzu town government immediately organized more than 10 generators to generate electricity at the wellheads, and at the same time used telegrams to inform underground personnel to escape. The power supply department also connected the power supply of Yellowstone and Pittsburgh to some mines. By 8 o'clock in the evening, 11 mines were all energized; at 9:30, 237 miners were safely transferred to the ground. At the same time, due to timely power pumping, the mines were not flooded.

As of press time, the power supply department is still repairing the line.
