Hankook Tire New Plant Settled in U.S. is Expected to Start Production in 2016

The reporter learned on October 16, 2013 that Hankook Tire recently finalized the construction of a new factory in the United States. The company will spend US$800 million to build a new factory near Clarksville, Tennessee, and plans to launch a new factory in 2016. It started production of tires locally.

Hankook Tire said that the company had previously evaluated hundreds of potential locations in the southern part of the United States and eventually selected Clarksville as the site for the new plant. The reason is that the area is located in the center, the traffic is convenient, and it is close to the assembly plant of many customers.

"This new plant will help us complete the plan to build a production base in all major markets," said Hankook Tire vice chairman and CEOE Hung Hwa Suh: “We will be able to provide high-quality tires and lead to customers, consumers and car manufacturers. Hankook Tire said that the new plant is expected to be broken by the end of this year.

It is reported that Hankook Tire's new plant will cover an area of ​​1.5 million square feet. It will initially produce 6 million tires each year after it is put into operation. It will employ about 1,800 full-time employees after full-load operation. In addition, the tire production capacity of the new plant will be further expanded to 11 million pieces/year by 2018.
