Great Wall Motor and Dassault implemented strategic cooperation

It is understood that on November 5, 2012, Great Wall Motor and Dassault Systèmes of France held a strategic cooperation signing ceremony in Baoding.

Great Wall Motor became the first independent car company to carry out strategic cooperation with Dassault of France. Wei Jianjun, chairman of Great Wall Motors, and Olivier SAPPIN, vice president of Dassault System’s global transportation industry, attended the signing ceremony.

According to the agreement, Great Wall Motor will cooperate with Dassault in the innovation of design, manufacturing and management in the entire lifecycle of automotive products. Wei Jianjun introduced that, at present, Great Wall Motors is committed to the development of international high-end markets such as the European Union and North America, to create an international brand image, and urgently needs to upgrade the information and intelligence of the entire product process. Based on this, Great Wall Motors and Dassault Systèmes have reached a "package" of cooperation plans, including cross-regional, global information platform development such as R&D, engineering, manufacturing, marketing, and services.

It is understood that the two sides have started cooperation in procurement services such as CATIA and PDM since 2007. Among them, Great Wall Motor Co., Ltd. adopted the Dassault Systèmes MCC (Material Conformity Platform) system to solve the problem of calculation of vehicle recovery rate in the EU ELV regulations. The cooperation helped the four vehicles of Great Wall Motors to pass the European Union certification once, making it the first automaker to pass the European Union's entire vehicle model certification. In addition, the adoption of PDM (Product Data Management) system has also greatly improved the effect and quality of Great Wall Motor's R&D data management.

Olivier SAPPIN stated that he hopes to ensure the realization of its global R&D strategy through strategic cooperation with Great Wall Motors, and to promote Great Wall Motors' progress towards world-class car companies. At the same time, we hope that through this cooperation, we will further understand China’s local R&D needs and develop more targeted solutions to serve the Chinese automotive industry.

It is reported that Dassault Systèmes is the world leader in 3D technology and product lifecycle management (PLM) solutions. The solution has been adopted by more than 90% of global car companies. Currently, it only works with 17 BMWs, Land Rover, Toyota, and Renault. International top car companies start strategic cooperation. BMW's hybrid and pure electric product development, as well as Renault's global collaborative management system, all use Dassault's solutions.
