In July 2011, the output of China's metal-cutting machine tools continued and maintained at its highest point in nearly 18 months, but the growth rate declined. In July, China produced a total of 84,000 metal-cutting machine tools, which was a flat month-on-month increase of 23.5% year-on-year. From January to July, China produced 506,000 metal cutting machine tools, an increase of 23.1% over the same period last year.

In July, China produced 24,350 CNC metal-cutting machine tools, which was a decrease of 4.15% from the previous period, but it was a year-on-year increase of 25.15%. From January to July, China produced 152,099 CNC metal-cutting machine tools, an increase of 33.83% year-on-year, indicating that the output of CNC machine tools grew faster than the overall average growth rate.

In recent years, the numerical control rate of metal cutting machine tools in China has increased from 9.12% in 2001 to 29.6% in 2010, and the numerical control rate of output value has also increased from 25.3% in 2001 to 52.5% in 2010. In July 2011, the CNC production rate of China's machine tool industry was 29%, a declining trend for three consecutive months. However, from January to July, the CNC production rate of China's machine tool industry averaged 31%, still 3.2% higher than the 27.8% of the same period in 2010. Although the numerical control rate of China's machine tools continues to climb, the overall numerical control rate and the level of about 70% of developed countries still have a large gap.
