After the environmental protection reasons, several large-scale sulfuric acid processing plants in the United States were closed down, and the production capacity dropped drastically.
The sulfuric acid process it developed was introduced directly or indirectly by many titanium dioxide production companies around the world. After the failure of the chlorination technology developed in the United States in the United States in the 1960s, the company continued to organize its efforts to develop chlorination technology in Germany (formerly West Germany) with success. The chlorination process developed was called the European type of chlorination technology. At that time, the chlorination process was used in Leverkusen, Germany, to build a 80,000 tonne/year chlorinated titanium dioxide plant; The 40,000 tonne/year chlorination plant built in this process was put into operation in 1987; this chlorination process was also used in the 40,000 tonne/year chlorination plant in Belgium.
In the 1990s, the company continued to expand its production capacity. A large-scale chlorinated titanium dioxide plant of 82,000 tons/year was built in Lake Charles, Louisiana, USA. It was completed and put into production in 1991, and was later acquired by Tioxide Group as a 50% stake.
At present, there are seven factories in Germany, Norway, Belgium, Canada and the United States, with a total production capacity of 470,000 tons per year. It is the fifth largest iron and white production company in the world, as shown in the table.
