Electronically Controlled Booster and Lean Burn: The Value of Yuchai Gas Machine DNA

In 1995, we entered gas engine R&D, successfully batch-matched in l998, and entered the market in large quantities in 2000. In 2004, Yuchai Power continued to advance in gas engine R&D and technical innovation. Today, as the value DNA of Yuchai gas engines, ECW (Electronically Controlled Booster) and lean-burn technology provide technical support for Yuchai's outstanding performance in terms of power, gas economy, reliability and environmental protection. .
The two core core technologies cast on the core competitive advantage of Yuchai Gas Engine's superior performance is an important basis for the successful commercialization of Yuchai's gas engines in large quantities. ECW and lean combustion technology make Yuchai gas engines have good dynamic performance.
The power of passenger cars is one of the core needs of customers. Especially after 2007, the demand for high-power demand in the passenger car market is evident. The power of the gas engine is smaller than that of the diesel engine of the same power. In order to meet the power demand, the customer must select a gas engine with higher power, and pay more for the purchase cost. Yuchai gas engine adopts ECW technology, which completely solves this performance bottleneck, improves the dynamic performance of the gas engine, reduces the customer's gas engine purchase cost, and creates more customer value.
ECW uses electronic control technology to precisely control the supercharger turbine according to supercharging pressure to achieve low-cost closed-loop control of the intake pressure and ensure the gas engine's dynamic performance. In addition, ECW also accelerates the instantaneous dynamic response of the gas engine and improves the gas economy of the engine. According to statistics, the proportion of gas costs in bus operating costs has reached 20% to 30%, and gas economy has become an important decision factor for customers to purchase products. Yuchai has created the core competitiveness of Yuchai Gas Engine through its lean burning core technology.
Lean combustion is an important means for Yuchai gas engines to create gas economy for customers. Yuchai gas engine's lean burn air-fuel ratio ranges from 1.1 to 1.5, enabling Yuchai gas engines to achieve a high compression ratio of 12:1, which greatly improves the economic performance of the product. At the same time, according to the dynamic changes of the vehicle, provide the most appropriate air-fuel ratio and fully reduce gas consumption. The lean-burn technology is mainly realized by means of a lean-burn oxygen sensor and EPR (electronically controlled pressure regulation). EPR first controls the entry of natural gas according to the preset pulse spectrum of the engine. The lean-burn oxygen sensor dynamically detects the air-fuel ratio of the engine and sends the signal to the ECU. The ECU sends a command to the EpR after comparative calculation according to the feedback information of the lean-burn oxygen sensor. EpR accurately adjusts the amount of gas entering, and performs closed-loop control of the air-fuel ratio, so that the actual air-fuel ratio of the engine is exactly the same as the target value, and good gas economy is achieved.
For the combustion characteristics of gas engines, Yuchai has also made improvements in the following aspects, further improving the gas economy performance of the gas engine: Designing a dedicated basin-type combustion chamber to speed up the flame propagation speed to make combustion as full as possible; to improve the dedicated camshaft Design, optimize the intake and exhaust phases, increase the efficiency of gas charging and reduce scavenging losses; improve engine exhaust design, optimize exhaust cam profile, and reduce exhaust resistance; use high-energy independent ignition coils to promote full combustion.
Reliability is one of the important features of engine products. Yuchai Power has improved the design of gas engines to eliminate the worries of customers.
Yuchai gas engine adopts the mature diesel engine platform, and the combustion pressure of the gas engine is much lower than that of the diesel engine. Therefore, the mechanical impact of the gas engine combustion process on the engine is reduced, and the reliability of the gas engine component is further ensured.
Yuchai's technicians believe that compared with diesel engines, the disadvantages of gas engines are mainly high exhaust gas temperatures and high requirements for systems such as intake and exhaust. In order to ensure the reliability of gas engines, they once again made several improvements to the product, such as: improved water-cooled supercharger to prevent coke formation in the supercharger caused by excessive exhaust temperatures; intake and exhaust valves and their The seat ring is made of special materials, so that the product will produce self-lubricating performance at high temperatures and ensure that the material life is extended.
Relevant experts believe that the outstanding environmental performance is one of the reasons why Yuchai gas engines are welcomed, and is also a manifestation of Yuchai’s social responsibility. The lean combustion technology greatly reduces the emission of NOx. The DOC technology converts HC and CO into water and CO2, making Yuchai gas engines easily reach the national or even national 5 emission requirements.
Yuchai Gas Engine wins prestige in the passenger car market, and its market share continues to increase in the domestic passenger car market. The market share of Yuchai Diesel Engine exceeds 60%, and it occupies a leading position in the industry. With a good product platform and market reputation, Yuchai's gas engine market share has also been continuously improved, winning the majority of users.
The bus market is an important market for CNG engine applications. The buses equipped with CNG engines have a small transport radius, and gas sources can be used in large numbers in the area. As a “power expert” for buses, Yuchai’s CNG engines developed on the YC4G, YC6J, YC6G, and YC6M diesel engine platforms can be matched with bus buses of 8 to 12 meters and above, currently in Hainan, Chongqing, Chengdu, Harbin, and Tianjin. Bus companies such as Xi'an, Beijing, Hangzhou, and Xinjiang have been used extensively to gain full recognition from customers.
The rising price of diesel fuel and the emergence of sudden diesel shortages have made the CNG road passenger transportation market a new growth point. To this end, Yuchai has also developed CNG products that use YC4FA and YC4D as platforms to actively respond to this new market segment.
People concerned believe that the future of the CNG passenger market has great potential. The precondition for CNG road passenger transport is the area with gas source production. One-way operating mileage is more popular within 200km. At present, the CNG road passenger transport market in regions with sufficient air supply, such as the Southwest and Northwest China, has already started.
It is reported that buses equipped with Yuchai YC6J and YC6GCNG engines have been operated in batches in the southwest and northwest passenger transport markets. The tracking results show that passenger cars equipped with Yuchai's YC6G230 gas engine operated by Sichuan Guangan have a gas consumption of 25 m3 per 100 km. In addition, passenger cars equipped with Yuchai's YC6M engine have also been operated in Hainan. The 12m bus equipped with Yuchai's YC6M340 engine has a low gas consumption of 29m3, which has created a good return for customers. According to the calculation of Hainan diesel price of 6.0l yuan and CNG price of 3.2 yuan in September 2009, the CNG engine will create a value-added investment of 557,700 yuan during the life cycle of 1 million km.
In the LNG passenger car market, Yuchai LNG engine market share of up to 80%. With the adjustment of the national energy strategy, at present, China has multiple gas sources to reach various cities, including five major target markets for the West-East Gas Pipeline (Shanghai, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Anhui, and Henan), Central Asia, and Russia. Bohai Rim, Yangtze River Delta, Pearl River Delta and other regions), coastal LNG receiving stations (LNG imported from Indonesia, Australia, and Qatar). The strategic layout of gas sources provides the foundation and guarantee for the formation of the new LNG passenger car market.
Currently, Yuchai has created the first three LNG market segments.
First, the market share is the highest, reaching 80%, and it has achieved an absolute monopoly in the market. Currently it has been applied in batches in cities such as Zhanjiang, Haikou, Sanya, Hangzhou and Guizhou.
Second, the earliest product development time. In 2005, when domestic LNG gas sources began to be laid out, the research and development of Yuchai LNG products had already begun. In 2007, the sales volume in the Zhanjiang public transport market reached hundreds of units, which attracted the attention of the industry.
Again, technical research is the longest. Long-term LNG engine research and matching experience has enabled Yuchai to develop a complete set of technical capabilities in the development of LNG engines and to form internal norms to ensure consistency in production and rationality of support, thus ensuring product stability.
Yuchai Gas Engine has been recognized by users in segments such as CNG and LNG for its outstanding market performance, and the unique differential gas engine technology is a solid backing for Yuchai's outstanding market performance. Yuchai's ECW and lean combustion technology will play a major guiding role in the history of Yuchai's gas engine development in the future. The resulting good dynamics and fuel economy will continue to create great value for customers.
