Cargotec receives first all-electric side-shift hatch order

Recently, Cargotec has signed the first contract for its all-electric side-shift hatch cover MacRack. It is reported that MacRack uses variable frequency motor and rack and pinion to achieve an efficient combination of drive and lifting system. For example, when stopping in the middle, the built-in braking device on the motor can support the control board and pass the cover by the fully automatic anti-jump device. The switch of the board is used to achieve the jump.

China Zhenghe Shipyard has ordered the all-electric drive system to open and close the hatch cover on a 47,000-ton bulk carrier being built for a Chinese shipowner. The new ship is expected to be delivered in July 2012. Cargotec confirmed the contract with the shipyard in September this year and delivered the first MacRack parts in December.

On November 28th, nearly 150 Chinese and Japanese shipyard personnel watched the all-electric side-shift hatch cover switch system exhibited by Cargotec in Nantong, which received wide attention.

For the shipyard, the use of this new product can also reduce the workload of installing and commissioning hydraulic systems and installations, thereby saving labor costs. For shipowners, MacRack's operation is much simpler, no longer affected by the cold weather, and remote monitoring is possible.
