Recently, Cathelco has received orders for equipment for two projects being undertaken by Singapore's Keppel Shipyard. The first order will provide the Marine Microbial Attachment System (MGPS) for the Keppel Far East Submersible Drilling Service Platform (B374).
Cathelco's marine microbial attachment system will help eliminate the blockage of marine microbial water pipelines caused by the growth of barnacles and mussels. A total of four sea-water suction boxes will be protected, with a flow rate of 1,160 cubic meters per hour per sea-water suction box. The contract involves the installation of two copper anodes and one aluminum cathode for each sea-water suction box that is bundled with wire to the control panel.
During operation, the copper anode will not only create environmental ions that can create a barnacle and mussel larvae that cannot inhabit or reproduce, but can also be discharged through the marine microbial attachment system. At the same time, the aluminum anode will produce ions that can create an anti-corrosion coating on the inner surface of the tube.
Depending on the application, Cathelco's marine microbial attachment system can operate efficiently at very low copper concentrations of 2 to 24% per billion. This will not only prevent microbes from inhabiting the tubes, but will not kill them, so it is better for a wider marine environment, so the system will have a positive effect on the environment.
Singapore's second project is to provide anti-marine microbial attachment systems and hull anti-corrosion equipment for Armada Madura EPC's FPSO boat modifications.
It is reported that the anti-marine microbial attachment system on the Armada Madura will protect the pipeline connecting the main seawater suction box, the fire-fighting seawater tank and the seawater lifting seawater suction box pipeline with a maximum flow rate of 1,300 cubic meters per hour.
The ship's Impressed Current Cathodic Protection (ICCP) system from Cathelco will prevent the hull from corroding throughout its 20-year design life. This is especially important for FPSOs because it is not docked at sea for long periods of time.
System performance quantum control panel storage data can be monitored through a series of displays. All data can be forwarded to the control room or bridge computer system via the RS485 link.
