Recently, the functional carbon materials team of the Surface Division of the Institute of Materials Technology and Engineering of the Chinese Academy of Sciences invented a method for preparing white graphene (hexagonal boron nitride nanosheets) by stripping molten alkali and ultrasonic. The research results have been published in the 2D Materials magazine and applied for national invention patents. The research work has been funded by the National “Thousand Talents Program†and the “Hundred Talents Program†of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
Hexagonal boron nitride nanosheets, also known as "white graphene." Due to their similar structure, graphene and boron nitride nanosheets have similar properties, such as excellent mechanical and thermal properties, especially thermal conductivity. Although graphene has been extensively studied in thermal conduction applications, its conductivity has limited the application of graphene in the field of insulation.
In contrast, boron nitride nanosheets have good electrical insulation and are therefore particularly suitable for use in heat dissipating materials in the field of thermally conductive insulation. So far, the research and application of boron nitride nanosheets with many excellent properties is far less than that of graphene. This research invention solves the technical problem of high-efficiency and low-cost preparation of "white graphene". The method has the advantages of simple process, low cost and easy availability of raw materials, low requirements on equipment, and large-scale production, which can greatly reduce the cost.
