According to this plan, the EU's wind power capacity in 2020 will reach 581 billion kWh, accounting for 15.7% of the total electricity consumption, while the EU's wind power output in 2010 will be 182 billion kWh, accounting for 5.5% of total electricity consumption in the year.
In 2020, the European Union’s wind power capacity is expected to be equivalent to the total electricity consumption of all households in France, Germany, Poland, Spain and the United Kingdom. In 2030, it will increase to 115.4 billion kWh, equivalent to 241 million households in the European Union. The total amount of electricity used occupies 28% of the total electricity. At present, wind power output is equivalent to the total electricity consumption of 50 million households in the EU.
The European Commission will announce the "2050 Energy Roadmap" before the end of this year, which will determine the direction of energy development in EU countries. Justin Wilks, director of European Wind Energy Association policy, believes that the current rapid development of EU wind power is mainly due to the EU’s strong energy policy.
